Ok, so I lied in my last post.
I just whipped this thing up. It started off as a CMYK poster and then turned into something a little more.
This piece was an assignment for a class of mine. I was told to design one page to illustrate the 5 different design principles (which are alignment, repetition, contrast, proximity, and cvi). I laid it out as a movie poster and decided it would be humorous to play on “principles” which led me to the idea of neck ties. I then illustrated the neck ties with the four different principles in mind (the ties in general contribute to a cvi). I then made credits at the bottom and placed the definitions for each of the the principles in the lines. Overall, I believe this assignment turned out very well, it is definitely portfolio worthy!
This piece was a gift from me to my lady friend. The skylines pictured are where both of us are from (Cincinnati, Columbus, and where we both live, Athens). The piece uses a quote from a song we both love “Home” by Edward Sharp and The Magnetic Zeroes. I found an idea similar to this while stumbling through the internet. The idea was a house secluded in the woods with a fairly “cute” quote like “home is where the heart is” or something like that. I also used a slight grain on this piece to make it look semi vintage (I don’t think that part turned out as well as I was hoping it would). Also, in this piece, I gave it a margin which blends towards the bottom white hill (which I really really liked).
